What is Epidermolysis Bullosa?
Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) is a group of rare genetic disorders caused by the absence of a critical protein in the skin. Without this protein, the layers of the skin do not bind together properly, and this results in blisters and immense pain. Blisters turn into open wounds that do not heal easily and are often riddled with infection.  EB individuals are born with such fragile skin, they are referred to as butterfly children.
